My Experience with Booked Out Designer by Elizabeth McCravy

filed in:

I’m a big believer in keeping track of your wins and writing down your far-fetched goals because you’d be surprised how often you make it happen. One of my favorite things when it comes to business is taking a trip down memory lane in my journal to see what I was dreaming of a year ago and how insanely different (in the best way) my reality is today.

In today’s post, I wanted to share a little more about my experience with Elizabeth McCravy’s course, Booked Out Designer.

I also did an episode on Elizabeth’s podcast chatting all about my experience (pinch me!). If you want to check out the episode I did with Elizabeth on the Breakthrough Brand Podcast, you can tune in here!

A little backstory first…

I first encountered Elizabeth during my 9-5 days. I remember discovering her content on Pinterest one day as I was twiddling my thumbs waiting on the day to go by. It was right around the time she launched her podcast, so I’ve been following her brand ever since!

I was actually lucky enough to win a coaching call with Elizabeth through an Instagram giveaway she did for the Breakthrough Brand Podcast, and that one call alone transformed so many things in my business, so when she approached me about doing a market research call a couple of months later, of course, I was in!

During the course call, we chatted all about my pain points as a designer and how she could tailor Booked Out Designer to people just like me.

Because I’d already learned so much from Elizabeth, it left me super excited to join her course, and I literally set aside the money for it almost immediately, and just kept it there ready to go for whenever she would launch.

Joining Booked Out Designer

I actually ended up joining Booked Out Designer a couple of days early. I was convinced it would sell out, and somehow guessed the URL for the course prior to launch.

Y’all I’m not joking when I said I knew this course would be incredible, and truly wouldn’t care what the price was.

I dove right in, and the course did not disappoint.

Elizabeth truly is such and incredible educator. The course is filled with actionable tips, helpful content, and a better understanding of the why.

Not just a do this because I said so, but do this because it will help with X, Y, and Z.

Which makes it that much easier to know what you want to apply or test in your own business, and what won’t serve you well in this season.

My favorite parts of Booked Out Designer with Elizabeth McCravy

It’s been a year and a half since I first joined Booked Out Designer, and I still find myself going back to the course whenever I need inspiration, a little reset, or just wanting to learn more.

Because here’s the thing — with over 90 lessons, this course is one of the most comprehensive I’ve ever taken.

Are you ready for my favorite takeaways?

It’s a business course, not a design course

As creatives, and designers, I think we all have our own unique styles and creative approaches and I love that this course is not a design course.

Because I actually think anyone can be a good designer with enough practice and understanding of your design style.

It’s a course that helps you streamline your business and book more clients so that you can grow more quickly as a designer, which in turn helps you become a more well-rounded business owner.

As designers, it is also our job to be marketers. Both for our own businesses, but also for our clients, and I find myself constantly using the tips and tricks I learned in Booked Out Designer for this.

The incredible transparency

One of my favorite parts of the course is the client calls Elizabeth shares. These are real calls that she recorded with her real clients.

I’ve always been a huge fan of behind the scenes content, and getting a peek behind the curtain of how she treats her clients, how she runs her calls, and overall business practices is truly incredible. This might be the module where I learned the most, in the most subtle way.

I’m telling you, this module alone is worth the price tag.

Consult Call and Inquiry Process

During my 1:1 coaching call with Elizabth, my biggest pain point in my business was my inquiry process and consult call close rate. I knew this area of my business had immense room for improvement, and after chatting with Elizabth, I found that I was able to close so many more of my calls.

The exact methods that we chatted about in this call are available inside of Booked Out Designer, and I would argue that you need these.

Again, understanding how to sell yourself as a designer goes far beyond being able to create pretty things, and I believe that these methods will help you show up more confident so that you can close more sales!

Take what you want – leave the rest

Elizabeth is very aware of the fact that we all know our businesses best. She never claims you have to do anything exactly the way she does, and even encourages you to find ways that will work best for you.

There is no one size fits all when it comes to running a business. Your max capacity might look different from the next, but the goal is to build a booked out design business (whatever that looks like for you), that allows you to be profitable and enjoy life.

I think this is huge, because it allows you to show up to coaching calls and the Facebook group, explain how you run things, and she will give you advice based on what might work for you.

The Community

I can honestly say that I’ve met some of the most incredible people inside Booked Out Designer. Between the Facebook group and the live coaching calls, this group is full of people who want you and your business to succeed, and is such a happy place on the internet.

It’s incredibly helpful that we’ve all gone through the same course, so we can help troubleshoot issues that arise, chat about life and business and share lessons learned with each other.

It’s also a great place for referrals, learning new tips and tricks along the way, and simply just be perfectly imperfect together.

Joining Booked Out Designer was truly one of the best business investments I made in 2021, and I can’t wait to see how this course changes your business too.

Will I see you inside?
